Testimonials

"I recently bought two beautiful Afghani rugs from ALRUG.com - a Soumak and a Prayer rug. I was very pleased with the quality of the rugs and happy to see that the colors were very close to what I saw on the web. The intricate pattern and subtle colors of the Soumak rug bring warmth to my study, and every morning and evening I place my feet on the soft Prayer rug at my bedside. If only I had more bare floors to cover..."

"I have purchased 6 exquisite rugs from ALRUG company, and my mother bought one as well. Each one I bought is a different style: Jaldar, Kazak, Bokhara, and Oushak. Every single one is a beautiful piece of art, bringing character and style to my home. The colors are as displayed on the website, and the rugs seems meticulously constructed and solid.

I looked around, read many reviews, and decided to try with one first. I was very impressed with the carpet, that I proceeded to buy from ALRUG all the rugs for my new home. I was not disappointed. Very importantly, the rugs are at accessible prices, making it possible to own beautiful carpets in one's home.

ALRUG's selection is outstanding. What is also noteworthy, is that they will find exactly what you want if you do not immediately find it in their current selection. The choices seem vast. When I saw an item of interest, I presented it to them and requested a particular size or a different color variation - they found exactly what I was looking for.

From purchase to delivery, my experience has been that each step was executed professionally, ethically and seamlessly. The rugs arrived in excellent condition, and very promptly. The company and its team have proven very friendly and reliable, and I am grateful for their contribution - making my home beautiful and rendering the experience most pleasant.

I strongly recommend ALRUG as a reliable and resourceful company to furnish one's home with beautiful rugs - from A to Z.

Gratefully, ." Read this testimonial on Houzz

Design Description

The carpet-making traditions of the Middle East and Southeast Asia date back hundreds and thousands of years, and include some of the most beautiful and intricately detailed work in the history of human handicrafts. Many in the West may still know them as Oriental rugs, but that term encompasses a host of highly esteemed regional carpet styles and national rug making traditions, including Indian, Tibetan, Nepalese, Chinese, Pakistani, Turkish, and Persian rugs, all of which can be found here at ALRUG.

Wool is the material of choice for traditional Oriental rugs, and ALRUG offers hundreds of handmade Persian and Oriental wool rugs in all sizes and shapes. Our rug sizes for all materials range from hall and stair runners to rugs smaller than 3 feet by 5 feet and larger than 9 feet by 12 feet - perfect for everything from foyers to grand halls. ALRUG offers exceptional quality and classic regional rug designs at a lower cost.
Our Transitional Rugs collection carries a wide range of carpets that developed over the last few decades with the influence of Persian, Turkoman and Afghan cultures, resulting in rugs of great complexity and superb coloration. With fine natural dyes Chobi, Oushak, Ferahan and Ziegler and vibrant Kazak, Caucasian and Kargai designs, the collection carries the rugs of finest quality and unmatched beauty in all respects. Woven by top class master weavers, these stunningly beautiful rugs has great intricacy and definition in design, super-fine quality. They are a proud symbol of exclusivity the hand knotted carpets can depict.
Tribal rugs have bold and exciting natural dye colors that are central to the crisp and contemporary look, and are famous for their durability and elegance. The vast appeal of tribal rugs is eloquently summed up by the eminent naturalist, Sir David Attenborough, who spent much time with tribal weavers while making a film about them and their art: "Today, the straightforward yet subtle creations of the tribal weavers have come to be appreciated more and more. The complexity of their meanings, the nuances of their history and traditions, and all the insights of connoisseurship, certainly enhance their fascination. But their abiding appeal rests surely on those qualities which were so treasured by their anonymous creators - a pride in craftsmanship, a joy in pattern and invention, and an unquenchable delight in color."
The growing enthusiasm for tribal rugs is not difficult to comprehend. They are full of life, vibrantly colored and rich in imagination. The inventive geometric designs are part of a weaving tradition that dates back two thousand years to the nomadic tribes and villages of Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan and other areas further north and east in Central Asia. Tribal rugs have a special character and personality, spun flavor that makes them so easy to live with in the modern home. They are absolutely delight anywhere - bedroom or family room, foyer or dining room. They simply glow with beauty and charm. Of course, with the growing appreciation of these delightful hand-picked tribal rugs, prices have escalated considerably. But at ALRUG, you can buy these high quality tribal rugs, all at exceptional prices!

More than 500 years ago, the Persians invaded Indo-Pak sub-continent from the northwest, bringing with them their most treasured possessions, their meticulously handcrafted rugs. Over time, this mingling of cultures gave birth to carpets with their own unique themes, delicate patterning and vivid palette of colors. Today, handmade carpets are produced in different cities in Pakistan like Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan among many others. Considerably less expensive than other rugs of this genre, they are ideal for virtually every room in your home.
Afghan rugs (and more particularly, rugs woven by Afghan refugees in camps in Pakistan) come in a range of designs and qualities. Traditional rugs are dominantly red and very dark blue or black in coloration, although shades of brown and gold also exist. Better Afghan rugs have excellent wool and strong geometric designs from Turkomen and Belouchi sources. Vegetable-dyed rugs in traditional Ersari designs woven as part of the non-profit Cultural Survival project are often very nice, and in the last several years traditional Persian (Heriz, Bakshaish, and recently some fine Feraghan) and Caucasian (Kazak, Shirvan, etc.) designs done with handspun wool and vegetable dyes on wool and cotton warps have appeared. Some of these are exceptionally beautiful and are excellent values.
