oushak-rug-9-x-12-no-vr79786
Multicolor Turkish Oushak Rug 9' x 12' Hand-Knotted | No. VR79786

Oushak weaving has a particular way of aging into itself, and this vintage piece carries that quality plainly. The geometric field unfolds across a generous nine by twelve foot expanse, its multicolor palette softened by decades of use into the kind of muted, earthy tones that only time produces. The patina across the wool pile gives the surface a warmth that newer rugs simply cannot replicate, with colors that feel settled rather than sharp.

Woven in western Anatolia, the region historically responsible for Oushak's most distinctive output, this rug was made using the symmetrical Ghiordes knot tied into lanolin-rich Anatolian wool over a cotton foundation. That combination of knotting technique and naturally resilient fiber accounts for both the structural integrity still present in a piece of this age and the gentle luster that remains across the pile. The wool's inherent lanolin content has helped preserve the fiber through years of wear.

At nine by twelve feet, this rug suits a formal dining room, a primary bedroom, or a living room arranged around a full sofa grouping. It pairs well with natural wood tones and linen upholstery.
