Soumak is a rare type of Kilim. However, genuinely speaking, Soumak is not a Kilim but a different variety in flat-woven textiles. Soumak is embroidered (not weaved) and its threads are rather left uncut/stranded at the back. They employ different styles of tribal motifs, predominantly geometric and bird motifs. Soumaks rugs have high value and are most suitable for contemporary, modern decor. Soumak rugs in our collection are made of finest-quality Biljik wool (from Belgium) in southern Afghanistan.
