Produced in Iran across more than five centuries of continuous court and workshop weaving, Persian carpets established the design vocabulary that every other rug-producing region has drawn from and responded to. The medallion and arabesque compositions of Isfahan and Kashan, the geometric reinterpretations of those same motifs by village weavers in the Heriz region, and the tribal abstractions of the Qashqai and Bakhtiari all belong to a single, extraordinarily deep tradition rooted in one country.

Pakistani workshops in Lahore and Peshawar produce Ziegler, Chobi and Mahal designs in fine worsted wool, following the format developed by the great Persian workshops and adapted for contemporary interiors. The construction standards follow Persian practice: asymmetrical Senneh knotting for fine floral work, symmetrical Ghiordes knotting for geometric designs, cotton foundations, and wool or silk pile.
