Yellow Rugs | Hand-Knotted Yellow Wool Rugs

Yellow in hand-knotted rugs is most commonly achieved using weld plant, pomegranate rind, or onion skin dyes, producing tones that range from pale lemon and soft butter through to warm mustard and deep saffron. Pure yellow-ground rugs are relatively uncommon in traditional weaving; yellow more often appears as a secondary accent colour in geometric patterns or as the base layer in overdyed green rugs. When yellow does appear as a primary ground colour it tends toward the warm golden and saffron end of the spectrum rather than bright primary yellow.

Yellow and saffron-ground rugs work well as a bold statement piece in otherwise neutral rooms, or as a complementary accent alongside deep blues and rich reds in more traditionally decorated spaces.
